When You Feel Far Away From You

A Little Landing Practice for When You Feel Far Away From Yourself

Some days it feels like your body is here,
but the rest of you is floating somewhere a few steps behind.

The world looks a little fuzzy.
Sounds feel too loud or too sharp.
You’re trying…
but it almost feels like you’re watching yourself live instead of actually being in your life.

If you’ve ever felt that way, this is for you.

Here’s a tiny landing practice that helps you come back, gently, quietly, and without needing to try hard:

 Step 1: The Hand-to-Head Touch

Place your hand on top of your head.

Not heavy.
Just lightly and simple, like you’re whispering to yourself,

“Hey… I’m right here.”

Your body listens to touch faster than it listens to thoughts.
Sometimes this little gesture is all it takes to help you land.

Step 2: The Slow Drop

Take one slow exhale.

Let it glide down your spine…
through your back…
your hips…
your legs…
all the way into your feet.

Like you’re slowly settling back into yourself again, one breath at a time.

Step 3: Touch the Ground (or Pretend To)

If your feet are touching the floor, notice the pressure.

If you’re on a couch or in bed, imagine the ground beneath you, even if you can’t feel it physically.

Picture it holding you, almost like it’s saying,
“You don’t have to float today. I’ve got you.”

Step 4: One Little Question

Ask softly:

“What part of me needs a moment?”

There’s no right answer.

Maybe it’s your mind.
Maybe your shoulders.
Maybe your whole self.

Whatever comes is perfect.

If you’d like something to go with this,
I created a short audio called Quiet Remembering.
It was made for moments just like this,
the floaty, fuzzy, not-quite-here ones.

You’re Not Drifting, You’re Remembering

Feeling far away doesn’t mean anything is wrong.
It just means you’re overdue to come home to yourself.

You don’t need a big ritual.
You don’t need the “right mood.”

Just a hand on your head.
A breath.
A little settling.

You’re already on your way back.
